Terry Godier's Dark Hours, an astronomy app for normal people, was rejected by Apple's App Store on the grounds that it was astrology. The app has no tarot or horoscopes. Godier expressed fury that kooks promoting astrology often try to insinuate their pseudoscience is related to astronomy. Even if the reviewer misread the description, launching the app should have instantly corrected the assumption. But they rejected it anyway.

Godier escalated to the App Review Board, which responded that "we understand the app includes a live tarot reading feature." That's not even about astrology. Dark Hours is exquisitely designed with a native Liquid Glass UI, smooth scrolling, and beautiful typography. It's exactly the sort of app the App Store should celebrate.

This isn't just contrary to developers like Godier; it's contrary to Apple's own benefit. Mistakes happen, but in a functioning system they get corrected quickly. The App Store is not a functioning system.
