Anthropic announced its acquisition of Stainless, a company specializing in SDK generation and Model Context Protocol server tooling. Stainless has powered every official Anthropic SDK since the early API days, generating native-feeling libraries across TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, and Kotlin from API specifications.

Founded in 2022, Stainless serves hundreds of companies that rely on its tools for SDKs, CLIs, and MCP servers. The acquisition strengthens Claude's agent connectivity by bringing Stainless's expertise directly into Anthropic. This move extends Claude's reach into more data sources and tools that agents need to be truly useful.

"Agents are only as useful as what they can connect to," said Katelyn Lesse, Head of Platform Engineering at Anthropic. Stainless founder Alex Rattray emphasized that SDKs deserve as much care as the APIs they wrap, and joining forces makes strategic sense given Claude's trajectory.

The deal combines Stainless's tooling prowess with Anthropic's MCP framework, potentially accelerating how developers build connected AI applications. MCP server tooling becomes a core competency as agent-based workflows demand more sophisticated integrations.
