Julián Álvarez returned to training with Atlético Madrid on Sunday after missing three sessions last week, as the club maintained its refusal to negotiate with Barcelona for the star forward. Atlético secured a 3-1 La Liga win at Sevilla on Saturday, with Álex Baena scoring twice, while Alvarez was left out of the matchday squad by coach Diego Simeone. On Friday, Atlético CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín reiterated the club's stance, stating "we won't negotiate with Barcelona, with absolute certainty," though he left the door open for a departure elsewhere if Alvarez wishes.

The Argentina international trained at the Cerro del Espino training ground in his first group session since missing Wednesday and Thursday and working individually on Friday. The club said Alvarez was "unwell," with Gil Marín adding he was "confused" and "in a very difficult situation, both personally and professionally," blaming Barcelona. "It's a personal process," Simeone said postmatch. "We're here to help him in a sporting sense and for him to help us, because he's an extraordinary player.".
