MLB Opening Day Roster Finalized

Several teams locked in Opening Day rosters following strong spring performances from veterans and top prospects alike. In Texas, 39-year-old outfielder Andrew McCutchen punched his ticket to the active roster after posting a stellar .444 batting average, including three doubles and a home run in exhibition play earning roster spot with Rangers. The New York Mets also confirmed their outfield alignment, naming prospect Carson Benge the starting right fielder after the phenom hit .366 this spring, a decision announced by manager Carlos Mendoza after sizzling spring.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Cardinals are set to debut their 2024 first-round pick, as top prospect JJ Wetherholt made the final cut, securing his spot from the seventh overall selection in the draft. In personnel moves elsewhere, the Detroit Tigers signed right-hander Connor Seabold to a one-year split contract while simultaneously moving reliever Beau Briske to the 60-day injured list placing Brieske on 60-day IL, signaling roster adjustments ahead of the season opener.
