Reigning world champion Wu Yize dominated Judd Trump 6-1 in the Shenzhen Open semi‑finals, rallying after losing the opening frame with six straight wins. The 22‑year‑old will climb to second in the world rankings and face fellow Chinese Yuan Sijun in an all‑Chinese final at Bao'an Sports Centre. Yuan, 26, earned his maiden ranking final by edging past Jimmy Robertson 6‑5 in a tense best‑of‑11 that featured a 50‑minute deciding frame and 177 points.
Trump, the 2019 world champion who entered the semi‑finals on strong form after a 5‑0 win over Mark Selby, faltered with a series of errors after a 77 break. Wu, who avenged an earlier Shanghai loss, highlighted Yuan’s emotional journey, noting the younger player’s tears and his hope for a great final. Yuan, starting the tournament as world number 33, reflected on his delayed ranking final, citing pandemic‑related struggles and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete at the top level.
