Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS Resolute Raccoon is now available, offering the latest Linux ecosystem advancements on a stable foundation for users of all levels. This release consolidates fixes and improvements from the initial Ubuntu 26.04 LTS launch and is ready for download or automatic upgrade from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Key enhancements include full Wayland adoption via GNOME 50, delivering smoother visuals, per-monitor scaling, native touch and gesture support, and elimination of screen tearing.

Fractional scaling and variable refresh rate (VRR) are now stable, with faster animations and a cleaner workspace. New default applications—Papers, Loupe, Ptyxis, and Resources—join improved accessibility features and a unified App Center for deb and snap management. For developers, the OS ships with updated toolchains for Python, Rust, Ruby, Go, PHP, and Perl, and provides first access to frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, Keras, and Kubeflow.

Notably, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is the first to natively distribute NVIDIA CUDA in its repositories, with NVIDIA DOCA-OFED and AMD ROCm also available for AI and HPC workloads. Workshop enables sandboxed, repeatable development environments. Security improvements include TPM-backed full-disk encryption in the installer, binding encryption to hardware to resist physical attacks, and an expanded Security Center for managing protections.

This release also increases memory-safe system components, including Rust-based kernel drivers and tools like sudo-rs and uutils.
