India's Abhishek Sharma struck the fastest T20I hundred by a batter from a Test-playing nation, reaching the milestone in just 30 balls against Afghanistan in Delhi. He smashed 11 sixes and nine fours in his 108 off 34 deliveries, eclipsing the 33-ball centuries of New Zealand's Finn Allen and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza.

Allen's ton came against South Africa in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Kolkata earlier this year, while Raza's hundred was hit against Gambia in October 2024. Abhishek's hundred is also the quickest in a T20I between two Test-playing countries. The fastest men's T20I hundred remains 27 balls by Estonia's Sahil Chauhan against Cyprus in 2024, with Muhammad Fahad doing so from 29 balls for Turkey against Bulgaria a year later. The quickest women's T20I hundred was Deandra Dottin's 38-ball effort for West Indies versus South Africa in St Kitts in 2010.

Abhishek now has three T20I tons, the third-most by an Indian after Rohit Sharma (5) and Suryakumar Yadav (4). Rohit had hit India's previous fastest T20I century, from 35 balls against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017. Abhishek has an even speedier hundred in domestic T20 cricket, off 28 balls for Punjab against Meghalaya in 2024.

In Afghanistan's failed run chase, Abhishek took a catch while Nitish Kumar Reddy bagged three wickets in the 12th over as India rolled their opponents in 14.1 overs for a series sweep.
