Tampa Bay Rays starter Griffin Jax exited Saturday's contest against the Phillies after being struck by a line drive. During the third inning, Trea Turner hit a 104 mph liner that hit Jax in the lower back. The ball ricocheted to shortstop Taylor Walls, who threw out Turner for the final out.

Jax hunched over in pain and did not return for the fourth inning. The Rays led 3-0 at the time of his exit. Manager Kevin Cash stated the ball hit Jax in the spine.

Jax finished the season with an 8-10 record and a 3.53 ERA. Steven Matz pitched the fourth inning in relief. The incident occurred at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
