Olympic Return Impact
Vegas Golden Knights return to NHL play without five key players from the Olympic final, including Jack Eichel, Noah Hanifin, Mark Stone, Mitch Marner, and Shea Theodore. The absences create lineup challenges for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Player Honors
Devils forward Jack Hughes received a pre-game tribute Wednesday night for his Olympic heroics with Team USA. The ceremony highlighted Hughes' contributions to the gold medal victory before facing the Sabres.
Coaching Changes
Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper will miss two games following his father's death. Assistant coach Jeff Halpern will serve as interim head coach during Cooper's absence from the bench.
