New Jersey Devils honored Jack Hughes with a tribute video before Wednesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres, marking the NHL's return from its Olympic break. The video showcased Hughes' overtime goal that secured the United States' 2-1 victory over Canada in the gold medal game in Milan.

Hughes, who lost several teeth during the tournament after being high-sticked by Sam Bennett, addressed the crowd at Prudential Center. The 24-year-old center expressed pride in both the men's and women's teams bringing gold back to America. He arrived in New Jersey late Tuesday after attending the State of the Union address with his U.S. teammates, where they were recognized by President Donald Trump.

The celebration extended beyond the arena, with a local deli near Prudential Center creating a sandwich named after Hughes. The deli playfully advertised the sandwich as being "so tender, you don't need teeth," referencing the center's Olympic injury. Hughes missed the morning skate but is expected to play as the Devils resume their season following the three-week Olympic hiatus.
