Phil Schiller is stepping down from leading the App Store and Apple events, Bloomberg reports. Schiller, an Apple veteran, transitioned to an "Apple Fellow" role in 2020 after serving as senior vice president of worldwide marketing. Greg Joswiak succeeded him as SVP of marketing, while Schiller retained oversight of the App Store and events. Despite working nearly 80 hours a week as of 2024, Schiller will now focus on unspecified initiatives as an Apple Fellow, with employees viewing this as a significant step toward retirement.

Apple is shifting App Store leadership to its services division under Eddy Cue, who previously managed the App Store until 2015. Day-to-day operations will be handled by Carson Oliver, a department veteran now reporting directly to Cue. Oliver and Ann Thai have shared App Store responsibilities since 2022. Meanwhile, Apple events leadership moves to Nola Weinstein, Schiller's deputy since 2023, who will report to Kristin Huguet Quayle, VP of communications.

The changes coincide with Tim Cook's final day as CEO, with John Ternus assuming the role Tuesday. Cook marked the occasion with a memo to employees.
