Starting with iOS 27.2, developers can use an alternative App Tracking Transparency prompt in the EU, part of Apple's deal with the bloc.

Apple confirmed it would comply with "fairer" ATT rules following an investigation by Germany's Federal Cartel Office. The deal ended a years-long antitrust probe into whether Apple's ATT rules unfairly disadvantaged third-party apps. Apple denied the allegations, but German regulators remained unconvinced. Apple agreed to eight changes to the ATT framework in Europe.

Apple confirmed that iOS 27 will let developers choose whether to "use an alternative version of the App Tracking Transparency system prompt in the EU." Due to legal requirements, only the alternative version is available for apps in Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and Romania.

The alternative prompt has modified formatting and language, with a text button labeled "Additional Information." This lets developers surface more details about linking user or device data with data from other companies' apps, websites, or offline properties for targeted advertising or measurement, or sharing data with a data broker. EU developers can also re-prompt users one year after their previous ATT choice, regardless of whether they accepted or declined tracking.
