CNN, MS NOW and Politico announced Monday they will sue the Trump administration after being barred from White House grounds, calling the move a First Amendment violation. President Trump declared the ban Friday, citing negative coverage. On Saturday, reporters from all three outlets were denied access, and CNN was removed as the television pool representative on Monday.

In a joint statement, the outlets said they received no notice or process before credentials were revoked. "Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism free from government interference," they wrote. The complaint argues the Constitution prohibits depriving press rights based on dislike of reporting content.

The outlets plan to seek an emergency court order restoring access while litigation proceeds. The White House did not immediately comment. Press freedom advocates condemned the ban; The Associated Press's Lauren Easton said no organization should face government retaliation over their words. Previous court rulings during Trump's first term restored credentials to CNN's Jim Acosta and Playboy's Brian Karem, requiring due process before revoking press passes.
