Forwards James Wilson and Findlay Curtis have left the Scotland squad to join the Under-21 team for their match against Azerbaijan on Wednesday. Hearts striker Wilson and Rangers winger Curtis were part of the 27-strong group training in Spain under new head coach Sebastien Pocognoli but will now miss the Nations League fixtures away to Slovenia and at home to Switzerland on Saturday and Tuesday. The duo could return to the senior setup for the October 3 trip to North Macedonia and the home game with Slovenia three days later.

The Under-21s face Bulgaria on the same day as the latter fixture. Wilson, who has scored five Hearts goals this season, became Scotland's youngest men's international player at 18 years and 17 days old when he won his first cap as a substitute against Greece in March 2025. Curtis has made five Scotland appearances and is the nation's youngest World Cup player after late cameos against Haiti and Brazil in the USA this summer.
