Demon's Souls Remake Hits 30 FPS on PS5 Emulator

PS5 emulator KyTyPS5 just hit 30 FPS running Demon's Souls Remake, and the speed of progress is incredibly impressive. Just two days ago the game was crawling along at 10 to 18 FPS, which was itself an 800% jump from the 1 to 2 FPS it managed a day before that. Now, YouTuber PSXTech has posted new footage showing the Bluepoint remake hitting a genuine 30 FPS in at least one area, though the framerate drops back to around 18 FPS as soon as the camera starts moving.

This isn't a stable 30 FPS experience yet, and there's noticeable frame pacing trouble on top of the drops. PSXTech didn't share the hardware used to capture the footage, so there's no telling what kind of PC it takes to get there. Still, the pace of progress is hard to ignore.

KyTyPS5 only managed to boot Demon's Souls Remake past its character creation screen a little over a week ago, and hitting anywhere near 30 FPS was expected to take until sometime in 2027. Some people online are chalking up the sudden gains to AI-assisted code, though nothing confirms that either way. Demon's Souls Remake isn't the only PS5 game making moves on the emulator. The same project recently got the PS5 version of GTA 5 running at up to 60 FPS, and Astro Bot has booted into gameplay too, though at a rougher 11 FPS.

All of it is still far from playable, but the pace at which these emulators are catching up is impressive.
