CD Projekt Red Expands to Battle.net with Geralt Skin

CD Projekt Red is bringing its games to Battle.net. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered was announced for the platform at Gamescom, and Cyberpunk 2077, with its Phantom Liberty expansion, is coming to Battle.net later this year. As part of the crossover, CDPR and Blizzard also revealed a Geralt of Rivia skin for Diablo 4's Barbarian class, shown off during BlizzCon 2026's 30 Years of Battle.net panel.

However, getting the skin isn't as simple as owning Diablo 4. It unlocks by pre-ordering The Witcher 3's upcoming Songs of the Past expansion on Battle.net. Buying the expansion after launch works too, so pre-ordering isn't mandatory, but the purchase has to go through Battle.net either way, leaving out anyone who plays on Steam, GOG, or console. Since The Witcher 3 has been out for over a decade, most existing owners already have it somewhere other than Battle.net; therefore, the skin effectively requires buying the game again on a new storefront.

Fans have pushed back on that restriction online, and some also criticized how the skin looks, since it has to fit within the Barbarian's existing hitbox and moveset instead of being fully custom. The requirement also came out right after Blizzard confirmed Diablo 4 won't get more expansions before Diablo 5, so some players are questioning the purchase entirely. CD Projekt Red hasn't said whether the skin will eventually be sold on its own to Diablo 4 owners, though given the reaction, that seems likely.
