Kevin Pietersen has been appointed as a specialist mentor for England's men's white-ball teams ahead of next year's Cricket World Cup in Africa. Pietersen will join head coach Brendon McCullum's setup for upcoming T20 and ODI series against Sri Lanka. The coaching team also includes Marcus Trescothick, Tim Southee, Jeetan Patel, and Sarah Taylor.

Pietersen expressed pride in helping the squad on their World Cup journey, stating that putting on the England uniform again since 2014 is a profound honour. He is excited to work relentlessly with the talented group to maximise their potential. McCullum welcomed the appointment, praising Pietersen's impact on English cricket and his unique understanding of high-performance batting.

Pietersen will be involved in winter tours to Australia and South Africa, as well as the home series against Pakistan and New Zealand next summer. The former star played 136 ODIs and 37 T20 matches for England, scoring over 5,500 runs, plus 8,181 runs across 104 Test appearances. He previously served as a mentor for Delhi Capitals during the 2025 Indian Premier League.
