Haaland scores controversial winner as City beat United 1-0

Erling Haaland's contentious winner earned 10-man Manchester City a derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford after Phil Foden's controversial first-half red card.

City have joined Arsenal as Premier League title race pace setters with maximum points from four games, but their winning goal was given via an "error in judgement" by the officials.

In the build-up to Haaland's winner, Enzo Fernandez looked clearly offside, but the goal was not ruled out. Refereeing body Pro Ref admitted their mistake three hours after full-time.

Foden was sent off earlier after reacting to Bruno Fernandes kicking the ball into his midrfi. VAR described it as a kick with both feet into the stomach, while questions remain about whether Fernandes should have also been sent red.
