Arch Manning and No. 4 Texas mounted a historic 24-23 comeback over No. 1 Ohio State, erasing a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit. Coach Steve Sarkisian praised Manning's "grit" as the Longhorns executed three straight touchdown drives of 12 or more plays in the final quarter, the only team in 15 years to do so, per ESPN Research. Texas became the first top-ranked team to lose a 20-point fourth-quarter lead since 2004.

Ohio State dominated the first half, jumping to a 23-3 lead behind Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith, who caught eight passes for 164 yards and a touchdown. Texas managed just five yards in the opening quarter, and Manning's first pass was intercepted. Sarkisian admitted the Longhorns could not have played a worse first half.

The comeback was the second-largest in Texas history, behind a 2007 game against Oklahoma State, and the biggest of Sarkisian's career. Manning called it a dream night hosting the No. 1 team at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in front of 105,044 fans.
