Oklahoma's starting linebacker Kip Lewis exited Saturday's game against Michigan after sustaining an apparent right knee injury in the first quarter. The fifth-year senior from Carthage, Texas, hopped off the field on his left leg while throwing his helmet following a play, prompting immediate attention from Oklahoma's athletic trainers. Lewis, who led the Sooners in tackles last season with 76 stops, briefly warmed up on the sideline before returning to the field, later appearing in street clothes as the first half continued.

The 209-career-tackle veteran did not record statistics against Michigan before leaving. Lewis became a starter late in the 2023 season and entered 2024 with 209 career tackles, 18.5 for loss, two interceptions, seven quarterback hurries and five pass breakups. He opened the season with three tackles in Oklahoma's win over UTEP.
