Alex Ovechkin will retire at the end of this season, the Capitals star announced Monday. Opponents and teammates explain that his shot is "nearly impossible" to stop due to its velocity and release.
In Buffalo, Jiri Kulich celebrated his return from blood-clot issues by scoring the game winner for the Sabres.
The Panthers placed captain Aleksander Barkov on long-term injured reserve after he missed all of the 2025-26 season and played just two games this year. Brad Marchand, back from surgery, netted his first goal since Feb. 26 in the same contest.
Lyle Odelein, a defenseman who won a Stanley Cup with the Canadiens, has died at age.
Amid his trade request, Dylan Larkin was placed on IR and booed by the Red Wings crowd before a loss. Monday’s four-game NHL slate features Sharks-Stars as the highlight.
