Contract Standoffs

Lamar Jackson is not expected to have a long-term extension in place with the Ravens before the season begins, with sources telling ESPN that the quarterback has been reluctant to discuss a new deal and remains focused on the upcoming 2026 campaign. In Jacksonville, the Jaguars and wide receiver Parker Washington are unlikely to agree on an extension before Week, per a source. The Texans and C.J. Stroud made a run at a deal but both sides now prefer to table talks until after this season amid a looming quarterback market.

Extensions Signed

Chicago locked up running back D'Andre Swift on a three-year, $33.75M extension that includes $27.5M guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Green Bay reached a four-year deal with tight end Tucker Kraft worth up to $92M, sources said. The Raiders gave tight end Michael Mayer, who is stepping in for the injured Brock Bowers, a multiyear extension reportedly worth $45M.

Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze (calf) says he expects to play Sunday at Carolina despite being listed as questionable. Falcons quarterback Cooper Rush experienced back spasms Saturday but will still start Sunday against the Steelers, the team announced. Kansas City left tackle Josh Simmons is out for Monday's opener against Denver, with the Chiefs expected to turn to undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson to protect Patrick Mahomes.
