A pro-AI super PAC called Build American AI is launching a multi-million dollar ad campaign promoting data centers in key battleground states. The group is affiliated with Leading the Future (LTF), a super PAC backed by prominent VCs Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, along with OpenAI President Greg Brockman. Build American AI told Bloomberg it will focus ads on Kansas, Ohio, and Wisconsin, where data center concerns have become central election issues.

LTF launched with over $50 million in funding and primarily donates to politicians supporting AI advancement while opposing those lobbying against the technology. OpenAI publicly distanced itself from LTF in a June blog post, stating it does not direct the group's activities and condemning tactics like astroturfing that obscure real policy choices.

Andreessen and Horowitz have emerged as major political donors, with their venture firm Andreessen Horowitz spending over $115 million in disclosed federal contributions during the midterm cycle, surpassing donors like Elon Musk and George Soros. The firm also supports pro-crypto efforts through the Fairshake super PAC.
