Stonepeak has agreed to take an equity stake in AMPYR Distributed Energy (ADE) to fund the platform's European expansion. The transaction is expected to close in the coming days. ADE funds, builds, owns, and operates onsite renewable infrastructure for commercial and industrial customers under long-term power purchase agreements requiring no upfront client outlay.

Hajir Naghdy, a senior managing director at Stonepeak, stated that finding secure sources of distributed energy is increasingly critical for European businesses. He cited ADE’s track record, diversified portfolio, strong cashflow, and actionable pipeline as key factors. The investment extends Stonepeak's existing partnership with AGP across energy transition and sustainable infrastructure.

The capital will allow ADE to convert its substantial development pipeline into operating assets. ADE has a pipeline of more than 1GW and has contracted 250MW of renewable projects to date across 200 sites. Brad Hopkins, partner and co-head of energy at AGP, said the investment is a strong endorsement of the business.

AGP, which launched ADE in 2024, remains a shareholder.
