CPP Investments and Brookfield Asset Management have launched the Maple Fund, a partnership designed to deploy up to C$50 billion ($35.9 billion) of equity into large-scale infrastructure and strategic industries across Canada. The initiative aims to target projects with total values exceeding C$5 billion ($3.6 billion) in equity capital. The framework allows other investors to co-invest alongside the partners, potentially expanding available capital beyond the initial target.

The fund arrives as Canada pushes to attract large-scale capital into infrastructure, a drive facing constraints such as financing needs and skilled-labour shortages. Both partners emphasized the fund is incremental to their normal activities, allowing them to invest independently or with other partners. John Graham, president and chief executive of CPP Investments, stated the partnership is positioned to meet Canada's new ambition for major projects.

Connor Teskey, chief executive of Brookfield Asset Management, said combining the two firms' capabilities could drive a generational investment program supporting globally competitive Canadian businesses.
