May River Capital has sold Dickson, an environmental monitoring platform it has owned since 2018, to Copeland, a portfolio company of Blackstone, for undisclosed terms. Dickson, founded in 1923 and based in Addison, Illinois, provides environmental monitoring software, connected devices and sensors to life sciences and pharmaceutical customers in more than 50 countries.

May River acquired Dickson in April 2018 and transformed it from a family-owned, single-site operation into a global platform with operations in Addison, Illinois; Montpellier, France; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The firm invested in next-generation sensing and cloud-based technology and oversaw the take-private acquisition of Oceasoft, a publicly traded French environmental monitoring company, expanding Dickson's technology portfolio and international presence.

Steve Griesemer, partner at May River Capital, praised the Dickson team's leadership. Houlihan Lokey served as lead financial adviser and William Blair as co-financial adviser. Paul Hastings served as legal counsel. Copeland, a global leader in compression technologies, has around 18,000 employees in more than 40 countries.
