Bregal Sagemount has made an undisclosed majority growth investment in A-Rent Test Equipment, a provider of electrical test equipment rentals, calibration and asset management services. Founded in 2019 by Paul Seppanen with backing from Sterling Partners, A-Rent is headquartered in Burr Ridge, Illinois, and provides equipment used to verify the functionality, safety and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure.

The company serves more than 1,000 active customers, including electrical testing firms, engineering firms, contractors, utilities and equipment manufacturers, across the utility, data center, industrial and manufacturing, oil and gas and renewable energy markets. Building on its foundation in electrical testing, A-Rent has established a growing presence in the mission-critical industry, providing liquid-cooled load banks and accessories for data center testing and commissioning.

The investment will support the addition of electrical test equipment, development of new distribution locations, expansion of A-Rent’s load bank offering, and continued enhancement of the company’s commercial and technology infrastructure. “Paul and the team have scaled A-Rent rapidly while maintaining the availability and service levels its customers value,” said Gene Yoon, founder and managing partner at Sagemount. “We look forward to partnering with them to support A-Rent’s expansion across new markets and product categories and build on the strong platform they have created.”

Lincoln International acted as exclusive financial advisor to A-Rent, while Goodwin Procter and Kirkland & Ellis served as legal counsel to Sagemount. Bregal Sagemount is a growth-focused private capital firm with $11 billion of cumulative capital raised, currently investing out of a $3.7bn Fund V, with offices in New York and Palo Alto.
