Apple's new iPhone lineup asks buyers: Is a foldable display worth feature compromises? Alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, starting at $1,199 and $1,299, there is now the iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable iPhone, starting at $1,999. All three feature the same A20 Pro chip and top-end hardware.

The Duo is not a Pro model. Its rear camera is branded 48-megapixel Dual Fusion, not Pro Fusion. The $700 premium over the Pro Max buys a folding 7.6-inch display, not a better camera.

All three share the A20 Pro chip, Apple C2 modem, N1 wireless chip, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread, second-gen Ultra Wideband, Super Retina XDR OLED with ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On display, Dynamic Island, 3000 nits peak brightness, Ceramic Shield 2, IP68, Camera Control, 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide, Photographic Styles 3, Dual Capture, Apple Intelligence, iOS 27, satellite features, USB-C, MagSafe, Qi2 up to 25W, dual eSIM, and 256GB–2TB storage.

Differences: Pro models have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays; Duo has 7.6-inch inner and 5.4-inch outer. Pro has aluminum unibody, Action button, Face ID; Duo has titanium frame, Touch ID, Apple Pencil support. Pro colors: Black, Silver, Glacier, Burgundy; Duo: Night Sky, Star White.
