Apple's iPhone Duo Under-Screen Camera Details

Hidden beneath the 7.6-inch inner screen of the foldable iPhone Duo is an under-display FaceTime camera. Apple has not revealed its megapixel count, unlike the 12-megapixel outer front camera and two 48-megapixel rear lenses. The under-display camera records video at up to 1080p at 60 fps, suggesting it is at least 2 megapixels but likely less than 8 megapixels due to no 4K capability.

It features an ƒ/1.8 aperture, faster than the outer camera's ƒ/2.2, possibly compensating for light loss through the display. Apple's tech specs list capabilities including Center Stage, ultra-stabilized video, Animoji, and spatial audio. The display layer over the camera lacks the anti-reflective nano-texture coating, creating a glossy dot visible under certain lighting.

Samsung previously faced similar visibility issues with under-display cameras in its Galaxy Z Fold series. Apple says preorders for the iPhone Duo begin at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 16, with availability starting October 23.
