In a July 2026 letter to U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD), Apple said its decision to remove ICEBlock and similar apps that crowdsourced real-time locations of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents was "prompted by concerns" about "agent safety," according to CNN's Clare Duffy. The removals followed a fatal shooting that left two detainees dead at a Dallas ICE office, with concerns raised by the Trump administration.

Apple removed ICEBlock from the App Store in October 2025, leading Raskin to investigate the U.S. Justice Department's role in the removals from Apple's and Google's Play Store. Apple's letter had not been previously reported.

Apple cited guideline 1.1.1 of its App Review Guidelines, stating the app's purpose was to provide location information about law enforcement officers that could be used to harm them. ICEBlock has not returned to the App Store.
