WhatsApp is currently redesigning its Android app, with a focus on the navigation bar, according to a new report from GSMArena. The redesign is in early stages and not final, as evidenced by the Meta AI button appearing in two different places in beta screenshots. The navigation bar is becoming more oval-shaped and transparent, aligning more closely with the iOS version, though full transparency is not yet implemented.

A dark mode version will also be included. The changes were spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.38.10, available to users in the beta program. Development is ongoing and could take several more weeks before the new design is ready for public release.

The Meta AI integration into the navigation bar, rather than as a floating button, signals a deeper integration of AI features within the app’s core interface.
