Samsung Galaxy A57 vs A37: Which Mid-Range Phone Wins?

Samsung's new Galaxy A57 and A37 are hitting shelves April 9-10 with starting prices of $550 and $450 respectively. The A57 features a slimmer 6.9mm frame, weighs just 179g, and boasts IP68 water resistance - improvements over last year's model. It also packs the new Exynos 1680 chipset and slimmer bezels around its 6.7" 120Hz display.

Both phones offer pre-order bonuses including free storage upgrades in select regions. The A37 shares much with the A36, keeping the same plastic frame dimensions at 7.4mm and 196g, though it also gains IP68 rating. Camera specs remain largely unchanged between generations. While these represent modest upgrades, they're positioned as carrier-contract devices where you might expect more dramatic improvements.

The real question is value. For similar money you could get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 or 8 Elite device, or consider Samsung's own Galaxy S25 FE. The A57's thinner, lighter design and better water resistance are nice touches, but the A37's minimal changes make it harder to justify unless you're locked into a carrier deal.
