Apple can use your Siri AI interactions to improve the foundation models behind Apple Intelligence if you opt in, but you can withdraw that permission later. When setting up Siri AI, Apple asks users whether they want to join Improve Siri & Dictation. Choosing "Not Now" declines the request without disabling the assistant. Users who initially agree can change their decision later.

The setting covers Siri audio, transcripts, related request data, and conversation history saved within the Siri app. It doesn't give Apple permission to collect every interaction processed by Writing Tools, Photos, or other Apple Intelligence features.

On an iPhone or iPad: Open Settings, tap Privacy & Security, scroll down and tap Analytics & Improvements, then turn off Improve Siri & Dictation. On a Mac: Open System Settings, select Privacy & Security, click Analytics & Improvements, then turn off Improve Siri & Dictation. Turning off the setting withdraws permission for Apple to store and review opted-in Siri audio and saved conversations. It doesn't disable Siri AI.

Apple asks for the preference separately on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro. An Apple Watch and HomePod initially inherit the choice from the iPhone or iPad used to set them up, while an Apple TV normally inherits it unless the user customizes the setting. Users can change the setting directly on an Apple Watch, HomePod, Apple TV, or Apple Vision Pro afterward.
