First iPhone 18 Pro teardown reveals larger battery

A short teardown video of the new iPhone 18 Pro reveals no major surprises, but shows how Apple cooled the processor and slimmed down the Dynamic Island.

Back in September 2025, teardowns of the iPhone 17 Pro revealed Apple's then-new vapor chamber cooling system. Now, the REWA Technology YouTube channel has taken apart the iPhone 18 Pro and shown which components have changed.

Apple has not discussed details such as new materials and altered cables. More significant changes involve the A20 Pro processor and vapor chamber. The processor now sits in direct contact with a larger cooling system. The physical SIM card version has a battery about 1.7% larger than the iPhone 17 Pro, matching slight battery gains in Joanna Stern's testing.

Hands-on testing also confirms a smaller Dynamic Island, with its infrared camera cutout moved to a screen corner. The teardown suggests these changes may make the phone harder to repair, particularly for aftermarket display manufacturers.
