Apple iPhone Duo Foldable Rumored at $2,000 with Apple Pencil Support

Hours before Apple's September 9 event, Bloomberg reports the company's first foldable will be called iPhone Duo and start at $2,000 with 256GB storage. Apple originally targeted a sub-$2,000 price, but AI-driven RAM shortages and supply chain constraints forced the increase. Higher tiers, potentially reaching $3,000 for 2TB, will subsidize the entry model. Initial shipments may begin as early as October.

Contradicting earlier rumors, the report confirms Apple Pencil support for the device. Color options are reportedly limited to white and dark blue, dropping the previously expected black variant. The iPhone Duo, previously rumored as iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, will debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.

Other expected announcements include a $100 price increase for base-model iPhone 18 Pro variants, variable aperture for the Pro Max, iterative Apple Watch updates focused on a revamped Health app, and improved ANC for AirPods 5. No new Apple TV 4K or Home Hub hardware is anticipated. The event begins at 1 p.m. EDT.
