As soon as next month, Apple is expected to introduce its next MacBook Pro redesign featuring OLED, the first touchscreen on a Mac, a thinner chassis, Dynamic Island, and more. Initially rumored as MacBook Ultra, the branding seemed uncertain until Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported Apple would bring Ultra design elements to the base MacBook Pro with M7. Now, Omdia confirms Apple will keep current mini LED display panels in production through 2028, indicating the existing MacBook Pro will remain in the lineup alongside a premium redesign.

This supports a dual-track strategy: Fall 2026 sees MacBook Neo (A18 Pro), MacBook Air (M5), MacBook Pro (mini LED, M6), and MacBook Pro (mini LED, M5 Pro/Max), plus MacBook Ultra (OLED, M5 Pro/Max). Spring 2027 adds MacBook Neo (A19 Pro), MacBook Air (M6), MacBook Pro (OLED, M7), and continued mini LED and Ultra models. The older MacBook Pro may be short-lived, serving as a lower-cost option.

The mini LED MacBook Pros could start at $2499, while the MacBook Ultra may begin at $2999 or higher, reflecting a significant price premium for the OLED touchscreen model.
