Nasdaq Jumps 2% to Record Close on AI Stock Surge

U.S. stocks rose on Monday as key technology names advanced and oil prices and Treasury yields slipped, with Wall Street looking to recover from a mostly lower week. The S&P 500 climbed 1.49% to end at 7,764.70, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 2.26% for a record close of 27,122.09 — its first since June. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 366.19 points, or 0.71%, to settle at 52,048.83.

The broader market was supported by a rise in artificial intelligence-related stocks. Shares of Intel popped 12%, while Advanced Micro Devices added about 10% and hit $1 trillion in market cap. Others such as Qualcomm increased more than 9% as well.

Monday's advance was also aided by a 4.5% drop in U.S. crude to $95.78 per barrel. International benchmark Brent slid 3.4% to $100.34 a barrel. Treasury yields declined alongside the fall in oil.

The 10-year Treasury note yield shed more than 4 basis points to 4.951%, as did the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond to 5.284%. Nasdaq notches fresh closing record The Nasdaq Composite posted a new record close on Monday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 2.26% to 27,122.09, while the S&P 500 gained 1.49% to 7,764.70.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 366.19 points, or 0.71%, to 52,048.83.
