The recordings allegedly show Serhiy Kropyva and others accepting kickbacks to protect a phone scam network. These allegations directly led to the removal of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who resigned last week and was formally ousted by Parliament on Tuesday.

President Volodymyr Zelensky pushed for Kravchenko's dismissal, emphasizing the need to clean house. The scandal threatens to undermine Ukraine's war effort and deter European partners as the country faces severe budget shortfalls. Russia's recent drone strikes have further depleted resources, with the prime minister estimating a $1.5 billion loss.
