The Song Teller Hotel opened in downtown Nashville on Sept. 14, just three weeks after Dolly Parton's death from cancer. The 245-room, 12-story property on Commerce Street features a guitar-shaped entrance, gold strings rising to an illuminated butterfly, and a maximalist lobby with pink marble flooring forming a guitar beneath a multicolored chandelier. The hotel celebrates Parton's songwriting legacy with suites designed for writing, a daily scheduled writing hour, and a massive guitar-shaped communal table in the Listening Lobby. Recordings of Parton's catalog play hourly throughout the spaces.

Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum opens on the third floor on Sept. 29. The project, a partnership between Parton and Herschend, caps four decades in hospitality including Dollywood, which attracts about four million visitors annually to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. "Song Teller Hotel is my love letter to the city," Parton said in press materials.

The opening coincides with a legal dispute: Parton's longtime manager's company sought a restraining order against her nephew Bryan Seaver, who oversaw security at her properties, accusing him of threats to obtain money from the estate. Seaver denied the allegations, saying messages were taken out of context.
