British police arrested five men on Sunday on suspicion of preparing acts of terrorism after a call about three suspicious vehicles near RAF Fairford, an English air force base used by the United States Air Force. The base, located in southern England, is primarily used to deploy large bombers and has been controversial this year due to its role in the American-Israeli war against Iran. In July, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps warned that any base used to launch attacks on Iranian territory would be a legitimate target, holding London responsible for consequences.

It is unclear if Sunday’s incident is linked to the Middle East conflict. When asked, President Trump praised the joint effort, stating, “Working with Britain — it was an amazing job. We had them under investigation,” and added the suspects were “looking to do big damage.” Officials evacuated over 85 homes in the rural village outside the base early Sunday morning.
