The Transportation Security Administration has launched a new program called Gateside, allowing TSA PreCheck members to pass through airport security without a boarding pass. This enables them to meet friends, see off family, or dine at gates. The program is currently available at 13 U.S. airports, including Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles International, and Harry Reid International in Las Vegas.

There is no extra fee for Gateside, but a standard PreCheck membership costs about $80 for five years. Visitors must apply one to three days in advance, and passes are valid for one calendar day with re-entry allowed. Some airports already had similar programs, but Gateside is limited to vetted PreCheck members, adding a layer of security.

Experts note that as security screening becomes faster for all passengers, PreCheck's value may shift, but Gateside offers a new perk for members.
