PwC is consolidating its India operations to expand offshore consulting work and address AI-driven changes in the professional services sector. Operations owned separately by PwC member firms in the US and India will be merged into a joint venture scheduled for signing on Sunday. The new entity will combine offshore acceleration centres built by PwC US with the consulting business of PwC India, creating a combined organisation with approximately 40,000 employees.

Unlike traditional multinationals, PwC and its Big Four peers operate as a network of locally owned partnerships, creating complexity when serving international clients. Consulting partners at PwC pushed for an agreement between the US and Indian firms to remove roadblocks to greater use of acceleration centres. Paul Griggs, PwC US chief executive, stated the combination will drive growth and strengthen service to global clients.

India remains one of the world's most important growth markets and a source of world-class talent. The joint venture aims to integrate technology, engineering, and AI capabilities at greater scale. PwC India chair Sanjeev Krishan will serve as chief executive of the new venture.

The deal would bring technology and AI capabilities together more effectively. The venture is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions.
