A consortium led by L Catterton, the LVMH-backed private equity firm, has agreed to buy a controlling stake in fitness company Hyrox, valuing it at about €600mn. The deal marks the latest investment in the global exercise boom. Hyrox, founded in Germany in 2017, organizes hybrid racing events combining running and gym workouts.

Participation surged from 80,000 in 2022-23 to over 1.4 million in 2025-26, with events in 30 countries. The seller, Infront Sports & Media, first invested in 2019 and became controlling shareholder in 2022. Infront CEO Philippe Blatter said the sale followed a strategic review, with new owners better positioned for Hyrox's next growth phase.

Co-founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste remain involved, alongside Silicon Valley firm WNDR. L Catterton, with $40bn in consumer-focused assets, has backed fitness brands like Hydrow, Solidcore, and Equinox, and was an early Peloton investor. The firm launched a $500mn fund this year with athlete investors including Kevin Durant, Mike Trout, and Patrick Cantlay.

Fürste, an Olympic gold medalist, aims to bring Hyrox to the Olympic Games within a decade.
