Billionaire Gautam Adani's group firms have settled one of the probes into accusations made by US short-seller Hindenburg Research. The settlement further eases regulatory overhang for the ports-to-power conglomerate.

According to an order by the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the companies paid about 15.1 million rupees ($157,960) to resolve the proceedings. The probe was initiated over alleged disclosure and corporate governance violations identified during an examination of Hindenburg Research's allegations.

The resolution marks a significant step in addressing regulatory concerns that emerged following the short-seller's report. The Securities and Exchange Board of India oversaw the proceedings that led to the settlement.

The settlement involves Adani group firms and resolves one of multiple regulatory challenges stemming from the September 2026 investigation. The companies chose to settle rather than continue fighting the allegations.
