Carlos Alcaraz could face three American opponents in succession at the US Open. Defending champion Alcaraz plays eighth seed Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals, with Frances Tiafoe or Alex Michelsen waiting in the semi-finals. "I think he [will] use the crowd, the people behind him, especially when he's playing here at home," said Alcaraz.

Shelton, 23, aims for his first career win over Alcaraz and second US Open semi-final. Tiafoe, 28, is chasing a first Grand Slam final after reaching Cincinnati last month. "It's an out-of-body experience," he said of the New York support. Michelsen, 22, earned his first Grand Slam quarter-final without dropping a set.

Six Americans reached the last eight at Flushing Meadows this year. On the women's side, Jessica Pegula faces Emma Navarro, while Coco Gauff can join them by beating Mirra Andreeva. Gauff won the title in 2023, Pegula was runner-up in 2024, and Navarro is rebuilding after health issues.
