Jess Fishlock, set to retire from club football this year, will travel with Reign FC when Wales face Albania in the Women's World Cup qualifying play-offs on Friday, 9 October. The return leg takes place in Llanelli four days later. Should Wales progress past the 36th-ranked Albanian side — whom they defeated twice during the group stage — they will meet either Norway or Romania in a two-legged play-off final in December.

Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson has confirmed that recently retired midfielder Kayleigh Barton will join her coaching staff for the Albania ties. Fishlock, who previously served as a technical assistant for Wales' qualifier against the Czech Republic in March, will transition into a coaching role if the team advances to the final.

Wilkinson revealed that Fishlock reached out before the semi-final squad announcement, jokingly asking to be called up as a coach. "I didn't appreciate her saying 'call me up coach, I'm ready,' which I thought was mean," Wilkinson said, "but she was a wonderful player and a great leader for us."

If Wales overcome Albania, Fishlock will officially join the coaching setup for the next round of fixtures.
