Milo Beimers set off from Belfast with his dad Kevin in a converted transit van, planning a 2,000-mile journey to Spain and Portugal to find a new club after leaving Glentoran at 18. After 30 days on the road and trials including Hercules in Spain, a call led him to Italy where he signed for Viterbese, who play in a medieval city an hour outside Rome in Serie D.

"There's been a lot of ups and a lot of downs, but in the end it's worked out and the risk has paid off," said Beimers. "Living in a van is something new and I'll maybe never do it again, but we've learned a lot from it. I'm really proud to find a club and continue my journey in Europe."

Viterbese were relegated to Serie D last season and Beimers says part of the appeal is wanting to get them promoted back to the third tier. He made his debut on Sunday and kept a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Anagni. His main goal is to help the team back to Serie C, which he says would be "amazing."
