Hull City have been fined £30,000 over discriminatory chanting during their 4-0 FA Cup defeat by Chelsea in February. The club is urging supporters not to engage in the same chant when they face the Blues in the Premier League on Saturday.

Three supporters were banned for "a minimum of three years" following February's game at the MKM Stadium. Three people were arrested for alleged homophobic chanting, and spectators were repeatedly warned to stop over the PA system.

The FA charged the club with failing to ensure supporters did not use offensive words with reference to sexual orientation. On Friday, the club accepted the charge and received the fine.

"Hull City condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the offensive and inappropriate language used by the supporters responsible," the club said, noting the chant is a homophobic slur and may constitute a hate crime. It warned those using the chant face arrest and criminal charges.

"Ahead of Saturday's trip to Stamford Bridge, the club reminds all supporters that discrimination of any kind is wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated," it added.
