Bernd Leno made early saves and denied Bryan Mbeumo with a full-length effort. Timothy Castagne was booked for fouling Marcus Rashford. David Affengruber had an excellent defence-splitting pass to Josh King but could not finish and was fortunate to escape after being outwitted by Cunha.

Calvin Bassey created Fulham's goal from an advanced position. Antonee Robinson pushed into inside forward areas, causing defensive issues for visitors. Sander Berge shot from the edge of the area, turned away by Senne Lammens.

Shea Charles' midfield partnership with Berge was key in protecting Fulham's defence. Oscar Bobb rolled an effort just wide of the post. Josh King threatened throughout, taking a good save from Lammens and hitting a shot that would have gone in without the keeper's intervention, but was booked for diving.

Alex Iwobi exploited the inside left channel, creating chances for Gonzalo Garcia and King. Gonzalo Garcia was half a stride from a tap-in from an Iwobi cross. Subs Palacios, Kevin, Larsson, Muniz, and Andersen all came on and kept Fulham ticking over.

Senne Lammens made key first-half saves and came out bravely at Iwobi's feet, but distribution could have been better and he did not cover himself in glory with the Fulham goal. Diogo Dalot had a tidy spin and dash to create a chance for Rashford but lacked defensive cover. Harry Maguire used his experience to draw a foul from King.

Lisandro Martinez struck a well-hit half-volley that drew an excellent save from Leno but eventually scored at the wrong end. Luke Shaw returned from a three-match absence, improving United's balance. Youri Tielemans wasted an excellent opportunity with a weak effort.

Kobbie Mainoo had a tidy game in possession without making key passes. Bryan Mbeumo made strong runs but was not at his best. Bruno Fernandes had a low shot against the post from a Cunha cut-back.

Marcus Rashford tried to set up Tielemans and had efforts saved by Leno and flying over the bar. Matheus Cunha started as a number nine, created an excellent opportunity for Fernandes, and his deflected shot hit the post and spun wide, making him the visitors' most dangerous forward. Subs Zirkzee, Mount, and Dorgu came on for Rashford, Mainoo, and Shaw respectively.
