George Russell topped second practice at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, setting a 1m22.559s lap in his Mercedes to edge Ferrari's Charles Leclerc by 0.120s. Kimi Antonelli completed the top three for Mercedes, briefly leading before Russell and Leclerc traded fastest laps during a soft-tyre shootout. Reigning champion Lando Norris was fourth for McLaren, followed by Lewis Hamilton in the second Ferrari and Oscar Piastri.

Rookie Arvid Lindblad impressed seventh for Racing Bulls, while Oliver Bearman placed eighth for Haas. Max Verstappen, sitting out FP1 for rookie Ayumu Iwasa, struggled to ninth in the Red Bull, citing balance issues despite a front wing change. Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top 10 for Racing Bulls, deputising for the injured Isack Hadjar.

Incidents included a spin for Leclerc at the second chicane and a dangerous impeding case involving Lance Stroll veering into Norris's path at the pit exit, which the FIA will investigate. Audi also reported an engine issue on Gabriel Bortoleto's car, curtailing his running.
